Our Texts

Literary Darwinists at High Point University study literature by examining universal themes and symbols related to our shared evolutionary history. We explore concepts such as our storytelling instinct, our art instinct, and our Pleistocene heritage. We delve into cutting-edge research about our genetic predispositions, such as the “grammar gene,” the “morality gene,” and the “god gene.” Then we look for evidence of these complex ideas in the literature we read.
